Is the intellect and brainpower of humans equal with an exception of disabilities?

I have been very curious and skeptical of an IQ. I figured if we we were all truly equal, IQ would only be a matter of being able to focus more and being knowledgeable of suggested topics to have a high IQ. Some people with lower IQ's than others, I felt, have had more expansive ideas and had more substance which led me to believe an IQ doesn't have a good measure on the mind and it's capabilities. Which I think is capable of obtaining a high IQ no matter the average person.
